Quarles, along with his granddaughter Zena, assists Police Detective Murray Wigan in solving various crimes and mysteries in Victorian England. Whereas the police look for facts and then form a theory of a case, Quarles first forms a theory, often seemingly absurd and based on little more than intuition, then seeks facts in support of it. Of course, to the astonishment of all concerned, Quarles' theories usually prove to be quite right!

Found this on Unodio and wasn't expecting much. Two hours later I was still going. Percy James Brebner doesn't waste your time with filler — every chapter earns its place.
I've been listening during my evening walks and Christopher Quarles College Professor and Master Detective has been the highlight of my week honestly. There's a section in the middle where it all just comes together — gave me chills.
What I appreciate most is that Percy James Brebner doesn't talk down to you. The ideas are complex but explained in a way that respects your intelligence. Really rare.
Listened to this over a long weekend trip. By the time I got home I'd already recommended it to three people. Christopher Quarles College Professor and Master Detective is just one of those books that sticks.
