After her younger sister Lavinia discovered the collection of nearly eighteen hundred poems, Dickinson's first volume was published four years after her death. Until the 1955 publication of Dickinson's Complete Poems by Thomas H. Johnson, her poems were considerably edited and altered from their manuscript versions.

Okay so I'm not usually big on audiobooks but a friend insisted I try this. Three chapters in and I was completely sold. Because I Could Not Stop for Death is genuinely well-made — the content, the pacing, all of it.
Found this on Unodio and wasn't expecting much. Two hours later I was still going. Emily Dickinson doesn't waste your time with filler — every chapter earns its place.
I've been listening during my evening walks and Because I Could Not Stop for Death has been the highlight of my week honestly. There's a section in the middle where it all just comes together — gave me chills.
What I appreciate most is that Emily Dickinson doesn't talk down to you. The ideas are complex but explained in a way that respects your intelligence. Really rare.
