recording of Discoverers and Explorers, by Edward R. Shaw. Read by Laura Caldwell.
Tales of the brave and daring explorers that ventured into the unknown "Sea of Darkness" where it was thought monsters and angry gods lived. They dared to sail near the equator which was thought to have such intense heat that it would boil the ocean water. It was also commonly thought at the time that the world was flat, and the ships would fall off the face of the earth.
These men overcame these fears to explore and discover new lands. (Summary by Laura Caldwell) For further information, including links to online text, reader information, RSS feeds, CD cover or other formats (if available), please go to the catalog page for this recording. org.

Finished it in four sittings. Usually takes me weeks to get through an audiobook. Says a lot about how gripping Discoverers and Explorers is.
I almost skipped this one because the title didn't grab me. Really glad I didn't. The content inside is miles ahead of what the description suggests.
The way Edward R. Shaw uses stories and examples to illustrate points is really effective. Doesn't feel like a lecture at all — more like a conversation.
I've been in a reading slump for months and this finally broke it. Something about Discoverers and Explorers just clicked and now I'm back to listening every day. Grateful for it.
