recording of The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes, by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. Read by Ruth Golding. A collection of twelve short stories featuring Conan Doyle's legendary detective, originally published as single stories in Strand Magazine and subsequently collected into a single volume.
There is not always a crime committed nor a culprit to find, and when there is, Holmes does not invariably get his man. However, his extraordinary powers of deduction generally solve the mystery, often to the discomfiture of the official police force. Holmes is a man of many facets, and I do not share the common perception of Holmes as cold and humourless: his sense of fun can be sparkling, and there are moments of rare pathos.

Finished it in four sittings. Usually takes me weeks to get through an audiobook. Says a lot about how gripping The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes (Version 2) is.
I almost skipped this one because the title didn't grab me. Really glad I didn't. The content inside is miles ahead of what the description suggests.
The way Sir Arthur Conan Doyle uses stories and examples to illustrate points is really effective. Doesn't feel like a lecture at all — more like a conversation.
I've been in a reading slump for months and this finally broke it. Something about The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes (Version 2) just clicked and now I'm back to listening every day. Grateful for it.
