recording of The Octave of Claudius by Barry Pain. Read in English by Aaron Rivera; Vees Voices; dg73; Rich Burgess; John One night, Dr. Gabriel Lamb saves the life of Claudius Sandell.
He takes him home and treats him excellently, nursing him back to health. However, Dr. Lamb's motives were really not quite altruistic, and Claudius may have to pay an extraordinary price for this kindness at the hands of the strange doctor and his equally strange wife.

I stumbled onto The Octave of Claudius randomly and honestly? Best accident ever. The way Barry Pain explains things — it just clicks. I've tried similar books and they always felt dry. This one actually kept me engaged start to finish.
Okay so I'm not usually big on audiobooks but a friend insisted I try this. Three chapters in and I was completely sold. The Octave of Claudius is genuinely well-made — the content, the pacing, all of it.
Found this on Unodio and wasn't expecting much. Two hours later I was still going. Barry Pain doesn't waste your time with filler — every chapter earns its place.
I've been listening during my evening walks and The Octave of Claudius has been the highlight of my week honestly. There's a section in the middle where it all just comes together — gave me chills.
