The Idiot (Part 01 and 02) audiobook by Fyodor Dostoyevsky invites you into a world where innocence clashes with a society steeped in hypocrisy.
Prince Myshkin, a fragile soul scarred by epilepsy, returns to St. Petersburg after years in a Swiss sanatorium. His earnest attempts to find belonging ignite a storm of envy, mockery, and obsession among the city’s elite. The novel’s opening train scene sets a tone of impending doom, as Myshkin encounters the tormented Rogozhin and the volatile Nastasia Filippovna—two forces that will test his purity and unravel his fate.
The narrative is a psychological maze: Myshkin’s naivety becomes a mirror reflecting the moral decay of those around him. Dostoyevsky’s prose is sharp, yet tender, exposing the fragile line between compassion and cruelty. The city’s bustling streets, the cold iron of the prison, the flicker of candlelight in a dim salon—all paint a vivid backdrop for a man who sees the world in a different light.
With a chorus of varied narrators, each voice brings a distinct texture—warm, husky, or crystalline—allowing Myshkin’s gentle tone to stand out against the harshness of the city’s voices. The layered narration breathes new life into Dostoyevsky’s classic, making every twist feel immediate. Stream the audiobook for free on Unodio and let the voices carry you through this timeless tale.

Unodio having this for free is honestly unreal. I would have paid for this without hesitation. The quality is that good.
I stumbled onto The Idiot randomly and honestly? Best accident ever. The way Fyodor Dostoyevsky explains things — it just clicks. I've tried similar books and they always felt dry. This one actually kept me engaged start to finish.
Okay so I'm not usually big on audiobooks but a friend insisted I try this. Three chapters in and I was completely sold. The Idiot is genuinely well-made — the content, the pacing, all of it.
Found this on Unodio and wasn't expecting much. Two hours later I was still going. Fyodor Dostoyevsky doesn't waste your time with filler — every chapter earns its place.
