I kept pausing to think about what I just heard. That's the mark of a good book for me — when it makes you stop and actually reflect. The Call of Cthulhu did that consistently.
Not a single chapter felt like filler. H. P. Lovecraft respects your time and delivers value throughout. Went in expecting decent, came out genuinely impressed.
There are books you finish and forget. Then there are books like The Call of Cthulhu that you keep going back to mentally. This is the second kind. Brilliant.
My partner overheard me listening and ended up sitting down with me for the rest of it. We're both still talking about it. That's not nothing.
