recording of Melmoth The Wanderer by Charles Robert Maturin. Read in English by Beth Thomas; James K. White; Martin; MorganScorpion; Kendra Lee Oberhauser; Andrew Huguelet; Jim Locke; Molly Craig; DJRickyV; Tony Addison; Mark Chulsky; Kertz.
One of the first horror novels, it tells the story of Melmoth, who sells his soul so he could have an extended life. Throughout the novel, he wanders around the world in search of someone who would replace him and lift his curse. It is known for its many sub-plots, the true horror it makes one feel, and its criticism of the Catholic church.
This is certainly one of the most important books of all times, quoted in countless other works, and praised by authors and critics alike. - . The narration quality on this is impressive. Clear, well-paced, and the tone matches the content perfectly. Makes a big difference when you're listening for hours.
I kept pausing to think about what I just heard. That's the mark of a good book for me — when it makes you stop and actually reflect. Melmoth The Wanderer did that consistently.
Not a single chapter felt like filler. Charles Robert Maturin respects your time and delivers value throughout. Went in expecting decent, came out genuinely impressed.
There are books you finish and forget. Then there are books like Melmoth The Wanderer that you keep going back to mentally. This is the second kind. Brilliant.
