Abū Yūsuf Yaʻqūb ibn Isḥāq al-Kindī (c. 801 – 873), known as Al-Kindi and by his Latinized name Alkindus, was an Arab Muslim polymath: philosopher, mathematician, physician, musician, and cryptanalyst.
Born in Kufa, Al-Kindi led the translation movement at Baghdad's House of Wisdom under Abbasid Caliphs. His masterwork On First Philosophy integrated Greek philosophy into Arabic thought.
