recording of What I Believe, by Leo Tolstoy; translated by Constantine Popoff. Read by David Barnes. "The inner working of my soul, which I wish to speak of here, was not the result of a methodical investigation of doctrinal theology, or of the actual texts of the gospel; it was a sudden removal of all that hid the true meaning of the Christian doctrine – a momentary flash of light, which made everything clear to me.

I almost skipped this one because the title didn't grab me. Really glad I didn't. The content inside is miles ahead of what the description suggests.
The way Leo Tolstoy uses stories and examples to illustrate points is really effective. Doesn't feel like a lecture at all — more like a conversation.
I've been in a reading slump for months and this finally broke it. Something about What I Believe just clicked and now I'm back to listening every day. Grateful for it.
Recommended by my colleague and I see why. The kind of book that makes you feel smarter without making you feel like you're studying. Light touch, heavy impact.
